⚠ Storage must be SSD — NVMe preferred. A spinning hard disk cannot keep up with many stations reading audio at once. Disk size is not in this calculator on purpose: it only limits how much music your clients can upload, never how many channels the server can run. As a guide, budget about 20 GB of SSD per channel for client media.
Operating system — Ubuntu preferred
Order the server with a clean, fresh install and give us root access. We install everything else.
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS — preferred Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Debian 12
Ubuntu LTS is what our own production servers run, so it is the best tested and the quickest for us to deploy. Please avoid cPanel, Plesk or any pre-installed control panel — they conflict with the streaming stack. Windows servers are not supported.
